New Cruise Ships and Cruise Job Opportunities for 2011

Printer-Friendly Format

The cruise ship building boom is continuing for 2011 which equates to even more cruise ship jobs.  The bottom line is that just over 7,000 cruise ship jobs will need to be filled for 2011.  Do you want to fill one of these jobs?

Although we are in the middle of 2010, it's not too early to get an idea of which new cruise ships will debut in 2011.  The launch of Royal Caribbean's Allure of the Seas will close off 2010 in December.  Being the sister ship to RCI's Oasis of the Seas it will be another mega-ship at 220,000 GRT.  Here are the other major cruise ships to be launched in 2011.  Will you be working on one of them?

Royal Caribbean International

The Allure of the Seas

Estimated Inaugural:  December 2010

Size (GRT):  222,000

Passenger Capacity:  5,400

Crew Needed: 1,650

The Allure of the Seas is the sister ship to the Oasis of the Seas and therefore the second of two of the biggest cruise ships in the world.  It will sail 7-night Caribbean cruises from Fort Lauderdale starting in December 2010.

Originally the Marina was to be launched in September 2010, but the new date of her debut will now be January 22, 2011.  Her maiden voyage will be from Barcelona to Miami but returning to Europe for summer 2011.  Unlike most cruise lines that use the concession, Steiner for salon, spa, and fitness, the Marina will be using Canyon Ranch as its concessionaire. Other ships in the Oceania fleet are the Regatta, Insignia, and Nautica, all much smaller than the Marina at only 33,000+ GRT.

AIDA Cruises

AIDAsol

Estimated Inaugural:  April 2011

Size (GRT):  71,000

Passenger Capacity:  2,050

Crew Needed: 611

This will be the 8th ship to join the AIDA fleet.  Similar to the AIDAblu (Feb 2010), these ships cater to a German market.  Therefore it is required that crew members are fluent in German as well as English.
