With 25 cruise ships under construction or on order for deliveries in 2007 through 2010, there has never been a better time to get a job on a cruise ship.

As this boom continues, 2008 will be another big year for new cruise ships and sees the launch of 11 new cruise ships including a joint contender for the title of "Biggest Cruise Ship in the World" from Royal Caribbean Cruises. MSC Poesia - The MSC Poesia, which is to debut in March 2008, is a sister ship to MSC Musica and MSC Orchestra. The trio of ships marked MSC's entry into big-ship cruising (though it will be exceeded in size just a year or two after its debut by later new builds such as the 133,500-ton, 3,300-passenger MSC Fantasia and MSC Splendida.

Royal Caribbean Cruises

Independence of the Seas - Independence of the Seas will be a sister ship to the 154,407-ton, 3,634-passenger Freedom of the Seas. Upon her May 2008 debut in the United Kingdom; she will be the largest ship ever to be home-ported in Europe. Independence will also include innovations found on its older siblings such as the FlowRider, H2O Zone, boxing ring, cantilevered whirlpools and 14-person Presidential Family Suite. Passengers and crew will enjoy a variety of exciting European itineraries.

AIDA Cruise Lines

AIDAbella - The 2,050 passenger AIDAbella, will follow its sister ship AIDAdiva and launch in the spring of 2008 cementing AIDA's position as by far the largest German cruise line.

Tauck World Discovery

Swiss Sapphire - The third member of the Tauck World Discovery fleet the Swiss Sapphire will be featured on its European river cruise itineraries beginning in early 2008.

P&O Cruises

Ventura - Billed as "the Superliner designed for Britain" the 115,000-ton vessel will normally carry nearly 3,100 passengers (3,600 max) and be staffed by a crew of 1,200; it will be 40 percent larger than any other vessel in the P&O fleet.

Holland America Line

Eurodam - The 86,000-ton, 2,044-passenger Eurodam, which will debut in summer 2008 will be the largest ever for Holland America Line, and the first in its Signature-class of ships. It will be named in Rotterdam on July 1, 2008 before it embarks on a 10-night maiden voyage from Copenhagen. The ship will sail its inaugural season in Europe followed by sailings in Canada and New England in the fall and the Caribbean in the winter.

Carnival Cruise Lines

Carnival Splendour - The 3,006 passenger Carnival Splendor will take her inaugural voyage in July 13, 2008. The 4.5-star cruise ship will be Carnival's largest and most innovative cruise ship to-date. The Splendor will feature Carnival's signature Seaside Theatre, a retractable sky dome, and a two-deck spa.

Pearl Seas Cruises

Unnamed - The first ship in Pearl Seas fleet will take her inaugural voyage in August 2008 with another ship launching in 2009. The currently unnamed vessel will carry 210 passengers and will embark on an international itinerary beginning with the Canadian Maritimes, Newfoundland and New England, and followed later in the year with itineraries in the Caribbean.

Princess Cruises

Ruby Princess - The 113,000-ton, 3,080-passenger Ruby Princess will be unveiled in November 2008. The ship, a sister to Crown and Emerald Princess, will debut on November 15 and will spend its maiden season cruising the Western Caribbean roundtrip from Ft. Lauderdale. The seven-night voyages will call at Jamaica's Ocho Rios, Grand Cayman, Cozumel and Princess Cays, Princess' private Bahamian island.

Celebrity Cruises

Celebrity Solstice - The 118,000-ton, 2,850-passenger 5-star Celebrity Solstice will be launched on December 14th 2008 and spend its maiden season cruising the Caribbean, calling at: St. Kitts, St. Maarten and San Juan, the second at San Juan, St. Maarten, Tortola and Labadee (Royal Caribbean and Celebrity's private beach in Haiti).
