Kitchen Staff Jobs on a Cruise Ship

Are you searching for some excitement and travel experience, and some pocket money at the same time?  Then consider working on one of the cruise liners.  There are assignments that last six weeks long and those that last up to six months long - you choose whichever length of employment works best for you.  And if you happen to like restaurant work, then it's the perfect match.  Here are some of the positions that you can apply for in that department.

Dietary department manager
This person is in charge of the food or dietary department.  He/she oversees and manages the whole department and is responsible for the day-to-day operations that include ordering, cost control and efficiency and quality control.  Extensive experience is required for this job.

Maitre d' hotel
This person is the department's public relations department.  He/she greets passengers and ensures that everything runs smoothly in the dining room area.  The maitre d' hotel also supervises staff in the dining room to ensure that everyone is providing top customer service.  Previous experience is required for this position.

Dining room manager
This person is the maitre d' hotel's right hand person.  He/she helps supervise dining room staff and oversees the entire dining room operation.  This position also requires previous experience in dining room management.

Headwaiter
The headwaiter assists the dining room manager in the day-to-day operation in the dining room area.  Previous experience is required.

Waiter/waitress
This person is also required to have experience in the restaurant business.  As there are more of these positions available, the chances of getting one of these types of jobs (with the appropriate experience) are greater.

Buffet server
The buffet server sets up the buffet area and replenishes the food and also clears plates.

Busboy
Though this position may not sound glamorous, it requires no previous experience.  And you still can take advantage of all the perks that are offered on board such as relaxing by the pool on your time-off.

Dishwasher
Again, this job doesn't sound glamorous, but no previous experience is required and you can still benefit from the ship's offerings.  And you can travel around the world and enjoy your free time in some of the best spots imaginable.
